Pets hold a special place in the hearts of Go Getter. We believe they are an essential member of the family and it's important to look after them during the momove preparation as well as the move itself. As much as we love to get the opportunity to cuddle your fur-baby we also want to ensure they are not injured while we move your belongings. Or worse, make their escape as we go in and out. So Hickory is happy to share some advice on how to make it an exciting and safe event. #HickoryHelps
Packing Supplies Checklist

What Packing Supplies Do I Need for My Move?

When preparing for a move, planning and preparation is important to ensure your household belongings arrive safely in your new home without a scratch. A great place to start is by making a list of what needs to be moved so that you can determine what packing and moving supplies are required. Once you have determined quantities and identified what items will need some extra TLC, you can start collecting everything you need to start packing.

Here are some reminders of key packing materials and supplies to have on hand when preparing for a move:

Whether you are planning to move to Winnipeg or are simply relocating to a new neighbourhood, it is important to be conscious of the environment before you start packing. Moving can generate a lot of waste from the packing materials to the fuel used in moving trucks. Along with hiring a moving company that is committed to green moving practices, the following tips give some practical ideas for planning an earth-friendly move:

Moving Tips to Reduce Stress

That massive and daunting task of packing before the big moving day. No one wants to do it, but that doesn't mean it can't be done right! Here are a few packing hacks to help reduce moving-related stress!

    1. Purge! Purge! Purge! If you haven't used it in the last year, donate it! Down-sizing prior to your move will cut down on moving costs and ultimately, de-clutter your life! It feels good to travel light!
Junk Removal and Garbage Pickup

At GoGetter, we believe in doing our part for the environment. We make every effort to reduce landfill waste by recycling and donating as much as we can. We need your help to do this.

We believe recycling is important (we even made a list of reasons for you) and we encourage our community to recycle first and dump last! If we are smart about our recycling now, we are providing our future generations with a healthier planet.

We’ve got a couple great ideas on how to keep items out of the landfill below:

Moving Aquariums

Moving an aquarium and your collection of fish can be tricky but if you plan ahead and take practical steps you can:

  • reduce the stress on your fish
  • increase fish survival rate
  • minimize the chance of aquarium breakage
  • keep filters & heaters in good working order during transport

Moving in winter can be a difficult process, especially in Winterpeg! While we can't avoid moving in winter, we can do a few things to help protect items being transported and help keep your moving team safe!

It is a good idea to have your driveway, sidewalk, and steps cleared of snow and use salt or sand on any icy spots. We will be more than happy to do it for you but it will save you time and money by doing it yourself!

I Sold my House, Now What?

The conditions of the purchase contract have been removed, the contract has been signed, the new owner has the property title and your home is officially sold. Congratulations... but now what?

Here are some helpful reminders for what to do once your house has sold:

Moving in Winter

Moving in the cold weather of winter can be a difficult process, especially in Winterpeg!

That said, boots and footwear can easily track slush and sand into your home during the move which can soil carpets or even damage the hardwoods. To prevent any unnecessary damage, we always lay down moving pads and remove footwear!
